Panopto

Panopto retiring fall 2025

UNCG will end its use of Panopto as a campus service on December 31, 2025. This initiative simplifies UNCG’s technology ecosystem, reduces costs, and takes advantage of integrated tools already available through Microsoft 365.

Starting in Fall 2025, OneDrive and Clipchamp will replace Panopto as UNCG’s recommended tools for creating, storing, editing, and sharing video content.

Panopto is a software-based, lecture-capture solution that enables UNCG faculty to record lectures for their students. Panopto’s lecture capture software simultaneously records and synchronizes video, audio, slides, screen capture, electronic whiteboards, and more. Additionally, formal lectures, campus events, classroom activities, and informal presentations can all be recorded from a home or office.

ITS does offer support for transiting Panopto to OneDrive. The support is intended for faculty or staff with large libraries of Panopto content. If you only need help downloading a few videos, please contact 6-TECH for standard support.

If you have a large library of Panopto content and need assistance, please complete the Panopto Transition Support Request form.

Yes. Panopto tracks viewer analytics, allowing instructors to get both an overview of how the videos are being used by the entire class, as well as for specific videos and individual students.

There are two ways to share Panopto Videos with students in a Canvas course: by making Panopto Video available in the course navigation, or by adding them with the Rich Content Editor (RCE) anywhere it is used (pages, assignments, discussions, etc.).
