How to Access
Instructors
All instructors have access to use Turnitin inside of Canvas. Instructors can enable Turnitin within a Canvas assignment’s settings.

When an instructor uses Turnitin through a Canvas assignment students will have access to the application. Students can access similarity reports if they are enabled by their instructor.

To submit a student’s paper to Turnitin, you can create a Turnitin-enabled Canvas Assignment and then submit the student’s paper in test student view. You can then leave test student view, and access the similarity report inside of the SpeedGrader once processed.
No. UNCG’s usage of Turnitin is limited to the Canvas LMS.
No, instructors can define where the student’s submissions will be stored within the Canvas Assignment settings page. Select the option most appropriate to your needs.

If you see this message, you’ll need to reconfigure your Canvas and Turnitin assignment dates.
- From the Canvas assignment page, click the Edit Assignment Settings button.
- Write down or take a screenshot of the dates from the assignment as you will need to restore them.
- Remove all dates from the Canvas assignment (click clear for each) and click save.
- Reload the Canvas assignment. You will now see the Turnitin window below the assignment instructions.
- Click the gear in the upper right of the Turnitin window.
- Change the dates inside the Turnitin window to the correct dates and save the Turnitin settings.
- Click the Edit Assignment Settings button, put the dates back in, and click Save.
